Top10 Worldwide Music Selection from Concerty - November 2023

November has passed already, we're well approaching the Mariah Carey times of the year rapid fast. However, before that, let's take a look at what has been popular in different parts of the world in the last fall month.

Mitski - My Love Mine All Mine (UNITED STATES)

Japanese-American indie pop artist Mitski has been on the music scene for quite a while - she put out her debut album all the way back in 2012 - and even though she has always had a sizable, loyal following, she never really made it into the mainstream. That is until now.

That is because her brand new track “My Love Mine All Mine” has finally landed her a spot on the Billboard Hot 100 chart in the US, and even got as far as #26 spot. The one that finally got her there is a slow, smooth, tender pop track which, by the way, follows the classic pop conventions of the day a lot more than her previous work. This may bring some disappointment if you are a hardcore fan - but still, you can also be happy for her newfound success at the same time.

Emilia Mernes - La Original feat. TINI (ARGENTINA)

Let’s be completely honest here - Argentinian model and singer Emilia Mernes did not amass 8 million followers on her Instagram through her sheer musical talent. Yes, she is a gorgeous woman who has no qualms about wearing very little clothing in public - however, that doesn’t mean she can’t make pretty good music. "La_Original.mp3" - this is the actual title, this is not a file name copied from an old torrent site - is a upbeat, catchy club banger reminiscent of what was popular in Europe in the 2010’s.

Maluma - Según Quién feat. Carin León (GUATEMALA)

We have a real A-lister up next. Colombian singer Maluma has been popular, even outside of his home country, for years now. Therefore it is never a surprise to find one of his songs charting high in any of the Latin American countries at any time of the year. This time, it was his cut “Según Quién” from September 2023, featuring another major Latin music artist Carin León, that many Guatemalan Spotify users took a liking to recently.

Azariah - introvertált dal (HUNGARY)

Hungary has been having a real Azariah fever lately. The young pop/hip hop artist has recently made a lot of headlines for selling out 3 nights in a row in the country’s national stadium, the Puskás Arena in Budapest - that is at least 60,000 people per night for him… With hype like that, it is no wonder that his track from February of this year “introvertált dal” (which translates to the “Introvert Song” in English) has remained a hit all year as well.

Separ - Bejšíí feat. Peter Pann (SLOVAKIA)

Staying in the Central European region, we have rapper Separ from Slovakia hitting it big in November with his freshly released “Bejšíí”. He also got quite a bit of help from local DJ Peter Pann who produced the beat for him - it’s linked below, enjoy!

Michael Bublé - It’s Beginning to Look a Lot Like Christmas (CANADA)

Christmas is just around the corner, and the people up North, in the great white Canada are especially aware of that - especially since they have a “special man” for that occasion. Jazz/swing singer Michael Bublé’s 2011 album covering all the great Christmas classics is always a hit around this time of the year. Start getting into the holiday spirit by listening to one of his songs from the record that trended high last month, linked below.

YOASOBI - アイドル (JAPAN)

Meanwhile in Japan, the musical duo YOASOBI was charting high all last month with their song “アイドル” (“Idol” in English). They hit it big straight away with their first release back in 2019, and have been having great success ever since - good for them!

Jung Kook - Standing Next to You (VIETNAM)

We have another heavy hitter from Asia up next for you, none other than BTS’s Jung Kook. The South Korean heart-throb has been putting out solo stuff for a while now (since July of this year, so not really for that long), so it’s no surprise to see his name alone on a popular track anymore. His debut “Seven” was a major hit already, which he’s now followed up with “Standing Next to You”, another chart topper for the young man. It’s been well received all across Asia, including the country of Vietnam.

ElGrandeToto - DELLALI feat. Hamza (MOROCCO)

If there’s a great example of a musical artist dominating a local market, rapper ElGrandeToto from the Northern African nation of Morocco is one. He has appeared in our Concerty worldwide column twice already (in August 2022 and in May 2023), and any time you look up what songs are trending in Morocco on Spotify, you’re bound to come across his name. As of the time of writing this, he occupies the top 8 (!) spots on his country’s top singles chart.

The biggest hit of them all right now is a fresh one from last month, “DELLALI”, featuring artist Hamza, who is also known as "the Sauce God" online.

Jack Harlow - Lovin On Me (NEW ZEALAND)

If you are just a casual music fan, you most likely know Jack Harlow from the featured artist gig he did for the 2021 megahit by Lil Nas X “Industry Baby”. However, his own music has plenty of legs to stand on of its own: his fresh release from last month “Lovin On Me” is a great example of that. The pumping, cheery, quirky track became Harlow’s third Billboard Hot 100 #1 hit in his career. But it wasn't just America where people enjoyed the his new drop, it got plenty of streams in New Zealand as well.
