Lana Del Rey Releases New Song With Her “Nepo Daddy”

Lana Del Rey deserves the dubious credit for introducing the term “Nepo Daddy” into the music jargon. There’s one person who definitely loves it though: it’s the “Nepo Daddy” himself, Rob Grant.

“Nepo” is short for nepotism, and - until now - was mostly used in the term “nepo baby”, in reference to young artists who got a head start in the industry due to their parents’ connections. Ms. Del Rey, however, reversed the generational roles, and got his dad, who was working as an advertising copywriter prior, into the world of professional music. To give her beloved father a big push, she even agreed to appear as a featured artist on Grant’s new single “Lost at Sea”, the titular track off of his debut record.

Arctic Monkeys Return to “Home Turn” in Sheffield

It’s always nice to see people not forgetting their roots after they get big. This is certainly the case for Alex Turner and his gang, as the Arctic Monkeys, who returned this summer to where it all started for them: Sheffield, England, United Kingdom. The two much-anticipated shows by the local heroes took place on June 9th and 10th at the Hillsborough Park.

P!nk Concert Ends In Chaos at Venue Car Park

Alas, not all major concerts held recently in the UK went as swimmingly as the Arctic Monkeys shows in Sheffield. American pop star P!nk was doing two live shows at the University of Bolton Stadium on June 7th and 8th. On both occasions, however, attendees ended up being trapped in the venue’s car park for hours as major traffic jams formed while everybody was trying to leave. Fans reportedly enjoyed the concerts a lot, but sitting in their car for hours afterwards, not as much.

Muse Crosses $200 Million in Career Box Office Grosses

Muse

Still staying in the UK, the British alt rock band Muse just crossed a huge milestone in their career. They just hit $200 million in career gross ticket sales for live shows, while on their “Will of the People" World Tour. That new set of shows alone earned $36 million in the box office - while venues also take a cut of that, it is still a hefty sum going to the musicians’ bank accounts.

Kelly Clarkson Song Gets New Remix By David Guetta

There is an unlikely musical pair for you: former country girl-turned pop star Kelly Clarkson just teamed up with an EDM legend out of Europe, the French David Guetta for a fresh new remix of her already pretty fresh new single “Favorite Kind of High” from last month. You can take a listen to it below.
