Seether Biography

Formed in the city of Pretoria, South Africa, Seether is a rock/grunge band that got really famous in the early 2000s. Seether became known in 2002 with "Fine Again," reaching number one on the US Active Rock chart. Their popularity continued in 2004 with the song "Broken," which reached number 20 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. As of 2024, the band has released eight studio albums.

Lead vocalist and guitarist Shaun Morgan is the band's longest-serving member. Bassist Dale Stewart joined soon after formation, and drummer John Humphrey joined for the second album. Since 2018, second guitarist Corey Lowery has been with the band. While various guitarists have toured or recorded with them, Shaun primarily handles guitar duties for their albums.

A very important moment for the band was when they changed their quiet song "Broken" to a louder one and added Evanescence's Amy Lee's singing. People liked it, so Seether recorded it with Amy. The song, along with a new one called "Sold Me," was in the movie The Punisher in 2004 and became a big hit for Seether.

In 2010, the band recorded in Nashville with producer Brendan O'Brien for several months. After touring, they returned to finish the album in June. Drummer John Humphrey confirmed in August that recording was done, and the album was being mixed.

As for the band's music genre, we can call it very unique and grunge-inspired, but many consider it to be alternative rock with some heavy metal drops, but the best thing about the band is their ability to walk through sub-genres of rock without the same time they are very clear about their style, something that Nickelback also does very well.
