Trendy Artists of the Week: SZA, Guns N’ Roses, Måneskin, Lomepal, A Boogie Wit da Hoodie

In this article, let’s take a look at some fresh industry news about the most in demand musicians on our site.
SZA

SZA Named Billboard Woman of the Year

American R&B singer SZA had quite an amazing year in 2022. Her album “SOS”, the second in her discography, spent seven weeks on top of the famous Billboard 200 chart, she won her first Grammy Award, and had many viral hits on TikTok as well. Therefore, it came as no surprise when Billboard Magazine named her their ‘Woman of the Year’ just a couple of weeks ago.

And she’s not stopping just yet. “SOS” stayed on top of the charts for a good part of 2023 also, and she is getting ready for her sold-out show at the Wells Fargo Center in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania on March 2nd.

Guns N’ Roses Return to Budapest, Hungary After 17 Years

Guns N' Roses

Here’s another cool concert date for you. The legendary American rock band Guns N’ Roses just announced that they would be performing at the Puskás Aréna in Budapest, Hungary on July 19th. This is the first time they do a show in the Hungarian capital in 17 years. And the local rock fans seem to be very excited about their return: within 30 seconds (!), all standing tickets were sold out in the arena.

Måneskin Profiled By Variety

Måneskin, a rock band out of Italy, just got some big exposure to American audiences, Variety, a popular newspaper running since 1933, ran a profile piece on them on their website. Even the headline is flattering already: it refers to them as “the biggest rock band to emerge in years”.

And it goes on with the same complementary tone, listing all of the band’s latest accomplishments, such as opening for The Rolling Stones, playing at Coachella and in front of 70,000 people at Circus Maximus in Rome. Måneskin is actively looking to expand their reach beyond their home country’s borders. As lead singer Damiano David, somewhat cockily, put it:

“We know how to play our instruments. We know how to write songs. We’re lucky to be good-looking. What was there to stop us before, except for that provincial thought, ‘We’re not going to make it outside Italy’?”

Lomepal Performs Back-to-Back Sold Out Shows in Brussels

Back to the soldout concerts around the world, French rapper Lomepal just had two in Brussels, Belgium. He’s currently on tour promoting his chart-topping album “Mauvais ordre” (“Wrong Order” in English) that dropped last September.

A Boogie Wit da Hoodie Performs "Secrets" For Vevo Ctrl

The company Vevo is familiar to most music fans, if for nothing else, for having them in the name of your favorite artist’s YouTube channel. They also do their “Ctrl” series in which they highlight the work of one artist per episode, be it an established super star or an up-and-coming youngster.

Their latest subject was A Boogie Wit da Hoodie, a rapper hailing from New York City, New York, who performed his 2020 hit song “Secrets” for them.
