Simge Biography

From Istanbul, Turkey, Simge Sağın, also known by her stage name, Simge, is a Turkish music singer, very famous within the pop genre in Turkey. Simge started her journey into the music universe when she was studying at the Istanbul Technical University Turkish Music State Conservatory, which Simge's father, was a huge supporter. Simge started working as a backing vocalist, and in 2011 with artist Erdem Kınay's assistance, she released her first EP.

Her success started from 2015 when she released the song "Miş Miş." The single topped the Türkçe Top 20 chart for four weeks. Simge's other songs like "Yankı" and "Ben Bazen" continued her chart success, with "Öpücem" also becoming a number-one hit in Turkey.

After collaborating with Erdem Kınay for a year, Simge released her first EP "Yeni Çıktı" in 2011. The EP featured the lead single "Ödeme Vakti" accompanied by a music video. Her efforts paid off when she won the Best Newcomer Artist award at the 2nd Pal FM Awards one year later.

Some controversy quickly came together with the rise of Simge's success, and that's because "Yeni Çıktı" didn't achieve the success she anticipated, which Simge attributed to inadequate publicity. Critic Naim Dilmener noted that Kaya Production didn't sufficiently promote the young singer, affecting her visibility.

Simge continued performing independently and signed seasonal contracts for weekly performances in Eskişehir and İzmir in 2013. She later signed with a record label and released one more single in 2014. The song revitalized her career, earning her recognition in the music industry and marking a comeback.

Simge continued her career with singles. In 2016, she released "Yankı," winning the Most Liked Song award at the Stars of the Year Awards. Its music video was one of Turkey's top-viewed on YouTube that year. With all her success throughout the music industry, Simge also performed at Vodafone Arena to celebrate Beşiktaş's championship.

Later that year, she released "Kamera", a cover of the Bollywood song "Badtameez Dil", with a high-budget music video featuring a time travel theme. It won Best Video Clip at the 14th Radio Boğaziçi Music Awards and earned her the Shining Star Award at the 43rd Golden Butterfly Awards.
