Carly Rae Jepsen Biography

Carly Rae Jepsen is a Canadian singer and songwriter. She was born on November 21, 1985 in Mission, Canada. Growing up in British Columbia, Canada, she first expressed her musical ambitions by joining musical theater productions in her high school. After graduating, she got accepted to the Canadian College of Performing Arts in Victoria. She got her degree, then relocated to Vancouver where she held odd jobs, such as being a barista, while also organizing and performing at open mic nights. She later recalled that period as “the happiest time of her life”.

In 2007, Jepsen finished third on the reality-talent show "Canadian Idol". This gave her enough exposure to sign her first contract with Nickelback lead singer Chad Kroeger’s label 604 Records. Her debut single was a cover of American folk singer John Denver’s 1974 song “Sunshine on My Shoulders”.

Jepsen’s debut album came out in September 2008, with the title “Tug of War”. It never saw any significant commercial success. However, that soon changed for the Canadian pop star.

In September 2011, she released her single “Call Me Maybe”, which blew up beyond her wildest dreams. It topped the charts not only in her home country in Canada, but many places around the world, including some of the largest markets, such as the United States, the United Kingdom, Australia, and France. As a result, her next album, “Kiss” released in September 2012, went on to sell over half a million copies worldwide.

Since then, she has released 3 more studio albums, thus she has 5 in total. The best selling one among them remained “Kiss” from 2012. Meanwhile, the new Carly Rae Jepsen ialbum s set to come out in October 2022, with the title “The Loneliest Time”.

The biggest hits in the Carly Rae Jepsen setlist to date are the aforementioned “Call Me Maybe” (2011), “Tonight I'm Getting Over You” (2012), and “I Really Like You” (2015). She was also featured on the 2012 hit song by the American electronic music group Owl City “Good Time”. Check where the next Carly Rae Jepsen concert is playing on the page above.
