HISTORY

Founded in the 13th century, Malmö is bordered by several municipalities in the Skåne County. These include Lomma, Vellinge, and Svedala. While Malmö itself is not directly bordered by other cities, these nearby municipalities are in close proximity and share borders in the Skåne region. The Øresund Bridge, linking Malmö with Copenhagen, Denmark, stands as a testament to the city’s strategic location. Malmö’s maritime heritage is celebrated in the Malmö Maritime Museum, and its industrial past is preserved in the city’s redeveloped Western Harbor area.
