Formed in Dublin, Ireland, in 2001, The Script is a rock band famous for hits like "Superheroes." During their very successful journey, The Script sold over 20 million albums worldwide and topped charts all around the world. Their songs are always going viral on TikTok and Instagram and they've won multiple awards. An interesting fact is that Danny O'Donoghue, frontman of the band, was a coach on The Voice, during two seasons of the program.
Danny O'Donoghue and Mark Sheehan, who were best friends during childhood were part of a boy band called Mytown, founded in 96. The two young gentlemen ended up developing a very strong connection and unique way of writing songs and composing. After a record deal, they moved to Los Angeles and wrote for heavy-weight artists like Britney Spears and Boyz II Men. After returning to Ireland they decided to form The Script, together with Glen Power, drummer for the band.
Their debut album, "The Script," was released in 2008 and immediately went number one in the UK. Songs like "We Cry," and "The Man Who Can't Be Moved," were big hits and made the band take one step further toward success. With that album, The Script supported major acts like U2 and Paul McCartney and won awards.
In 2014, "No Sound Without Silence," the band's fourth album, was also a huge success, mainly because of its lead single "Superheroes." Many of the album's songs were recorded while on tour. In 2017, "Freedom Child," their fifth album was released and had the lead single "Rain." Before the album's release, promotional singles "Written in the Scars" and "Love Not Lovers" were also launched to boost anticipation.
In 2021, after a bit more than a decade of success and popularity, The Script teased a new song, "I Want It All," which was released alongside the announcement of their greatest hits album, "Tales from the Script: Greatest Hits," set to be released that same year. That announcement made fans extremely excited and along with that, The Script also announced a worldwide tour starting in March 2022.
On 14 April 2023, band co-founder Mark Sheehan, unfortunately passed away at the age of 46. In 2024, The Script brought new members Ben Sargeant and Ben Weaver to the band. Right after that they released the single "Both Ways," which is the band's first release since Mark's passing.
Even with the unfortunate event of Mark's passing, his success and his unique talent will live forever, together with The Script's songs.
