Rahat Fateh Ali Khan Biography

Widely known in Pakistan, Rahat Fateh Ali Khan is a renowned singer famous for contributing to Qawwali. Rahat is not only one of the most popular artists in Pakistan but also one of the highest-paid singers in the country. Rahat brings with him a very rich legacy, full of innovation and creativity. Rahat also performs ghazals and other light music. He gained recognition in all corners of his country as a playback singer in Hindi and Pakistani cinema. Rahat also worked with his uncle, Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan, and Eddie Vedder on the "Dead Man Walking" soundtrack in 1995.

Rahat was born into a family of classical singers in Faisalabad, Pakistan. From an early age, Rahat had heavy musical influences coming from his family and he often sang alongside his uncle and his father. By the age of seven, Rahat began formal training in Qawwali under the guidance of his uncle.

Rahat had his first public performance during his grandfather's death anniversary, at that time, he was only 9 years old. By 15, Rahat joined Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan's Qawwali group and toured the UK. The singer also debuted in Bollywood in the movie Paap.

By 2012, Rahat performed in the UK once again for over 20k people. One of his songs, "Zaroori Tha," reached over a billion views on YouTube.

Throughout Rahat's many participations in movies and other projects, he also judged the show Chhote Ustaad. The singer also made history by being the first Pakistani to perform at a Nobel Prize concert in 2014.
