Pierce The Veil Biography

Pierce the Veil is an American hard rock band. They were formed in 2006 in San Diego, California. The founding members were two brothers, vocalist and guitarist Vic Fuentes (born in 1983 in San Diego, California), and drummer Mike Fuentes (1984, San Diego, California).

The Fuentes brothers decided to form a new band in 2006, after their old one, “Before Today”, was dismantled. With the help of the same label that signed their old band, they produced a new album and published under the new name “Pierce the Veil”. The group’s name is from the title of an old Before Today song. Pierce the Veil’s debut album came out in June 2007, with the title “A Flair for the Dramatic”. It managed to gain a little traction, getting on Billboard’s Heatseekers list, a chart for new artists only, at the #61 spot.

Also in 2007, they performed a Pierce the Veil concert at the summer extreme sports festival Vans Warped Tour at the Verizon Wireless Music Center in Noblesville, Indiana. The next year, they got to go on their first nationwide Pierce the Veil concert tour as a headlining act, called “The Delicious Tour”.

Their second album, titled “Selfish Machines”, came out in June 2010. By that time, lead guitarist Tony Perry and bassist Jaime Preciado were added to the band’s roster. The record performed a lot better on the charts than their first one, peaking at the #16 on Billboard's Independent Albums chart, while also breaking into the famous overall Billboard 200 chart at the #106 spot.

Since then, Pierce the Veil has released two more albums, “Collide with the Sky” in July 2012, and “Misadventures” in May 2016. Their best selling record so far has “Collide with the Sky” which sold 500,000 copies in the US alone. Vic Fuentes announced on his social media in July 2018 that the band is in fact working on a new Pierce the Veil album. However, no announcement of the release date or the title have been made since. In 2020, co-founder and drummer Mike Fuentes left the band due to allegations of sexual conduct with two underage girls.

The biggest hits in the Pierce the Veil setlist to date are “Knives and Pens” (2009), "Caraphernelia" (2010), “King for a Day” (2012) featuring Kellin Quinn, and “Bulls in the Bronx” (also 2012).
