Falling in Reverse is an American rock band. They were formed in 2008 in Las Vegas, Nevada. The sole founding member was vocalist, keyboardist, and guitarist Ronnie Radke (born in 1983 in Las Vegas, Nevada).
Falling in Reverse has one of the stranger origin stories among rock bands. Founder Radke used to be the lead singer in the post-hardcore band “Escape the Fate”. However, in 2006, he and his friend got into an altercation which resulted in the death of an 18-year-old boy. It wasn’t Radke who fired the deadly shot, but his involvement, as well as him wearing brass knuckles at the time, ended up getting him a suspended prison sentence. However, in 2008, he failed to report to his probation officer, which meant that he did have to spend 2 years behind bars after all. As a result, he got kicked out of Escape the Fate. Evidently, Radke still holds some grudge against his former bandmates.
While in prison, he started a one-man musical project under the name “From Behind These Walls” in 2008. The next year, he was forced to change the name due to copyright infringement. He decided to go with “Falling in Reverse”. However, he was also able to record a demo tape while still incarcerated (!) in 2010, as he had good relationships with musicians in the outside world. Those musicians were bassist Nason Schoeffler, guitarist Jacky Vincent, rhythm guitarist Derek Jones, and drummer Scott Gee, who all played on the first demo recording by the new rock band.
Radke was freed at last at the end of 2010. Falling in Reserve was soon thereafter signed by the indie label Epitaph Records. They put out the band’s debut album, “The Drug in Me Is You”, in July 2011. The record ended up becoming a moderate hit, peaking at #3 on Billboard’s Top Rock Albums chart, while also reaching #19 on the overall Billboard 200 chart. Radke and the band got to go on their first nationwide Falling in Reverse concert tour in 2013, which included a performance at the famous Vans Warped Tour festival.
Since then, the Las Vegas-based rock band released 3 more studio albums, thus they have 4 in total. The best selling one among them has remained their first one, “The Drug in Me Is You” from 2011, which ended up selling around 500,000 copies. Meanwhile, the latest new Falling in Reverse album came out in April 2017, with the title “Coming Home”.
The biggest hits in the Falling in Reverse setlist to date are “The Drug In Me is You” (2011, same title as their album), “I’m Not a Vampire” (also 2011), “Losing My Life” (2018), and “Popular Monster” (2019). After some changes, their current line-up is made up of founder and lead singer Ronnie Radke, lead guitarist Max Georgiev, rhythm guitarist Christian Thompson, and bassist Tyler Burgess.
