Kenan Doğulu Concerts Setlist

Born in 1974 into a family of artists, Kenan Doğulu was one of the most successful pop musicians of Turkey, incorporating his rich musical education into a contemporary pop expression. Music runs deep in his blood: his father Yurdaer is a musician, while his brother Ozan is likewise a musician, and his sister Cenan pursued fashion design.

Doğulu's music career began at a very young age. When he was five years old, he came first in the exams for entrance to the piano department of the conservatory and studied piano there for six years. Not content with playing the piano alone, he further expanded his musical outlook by studying flute with Erkan Alpay and guitar with Erdem Sökmen. His childhood was steeped in the arts: he took part in theater, sang as a soloist in the choir, and learned all kinds of rhythm instruments.

Doğulu finished high school at Kültür College and then went to the United States in pursuit of musical perfection. He received a communication certificate from Hesser College in New Hampshire and then went to Los Angeles to study at the prestigious Musicians Institute. Later, he continued his education back home at Istanbul Bilgi University. Incidentally, Doğulu's family name allows for a peek into Turkey's cultural history.

Interestingly, as Kenan Doğulu explained in an interview, though his grandfather originated from Antep and his father from Adana, the surname "Doğulu" ("from the east") likely derived when his family came from Israel, reflecting a time when anyone arriving from eastern regions received this designation.
