Demetria Devonne Lovato, better known by his stage name Demi Lovato, is an American singer, songwriter, and actress. She was born on August 20, 1992 in Albuquerque, New Mexico. Sadly, as a child, Lovato was abused by her father. Thankfully, her parents divorced when she was just 2 and she got to stay with her mom. After his father’s death, she stated that she had forgiven him, and that his behavior was brought on by his mental illness, not bad intentions. At age 7, Lovato learnt to play the piano, then the guitar at age 10. The same age, she got cast on the children’s television program “Barney & Friends”, playing a character named Angela.
In her teenage years, she played a role in the Disney Channel series “As the Bell Rings”. She then played the leading role in the 2008 TV musical “Camp Role”, an aspiring singer named Mitchie Torres. The soundtrack of the movie was released as an album, and it did very well, even peaking at #3 on the famous Billboard 200 chart. This was a perfect step for Lovato to launch her music career.
Her debut album, the pop-rock record “Don't Forget”, came out in September 2008, through the major label Hollywood Records. That too became a hit for Lovato, peaking at the #2 spot on Billboard 200. Since then, the New Mexico-native pop star has released 7 more studio albums, thus she has 8 in total. The best selling one among them is “Tell Me You Love Me” from September 2017, which ended up selling around 1.2 million copies worldwide. Meanwhile, the latest new Demi Lovato album came out in August 2022, with the title “Holy Fvck”.
The biggest hits in the Demi Lovato setlist to date are “Give Your Heart a Break” (2011), “Heart Attack” (2013), “Let it Go” (also 2013, featured in the animated Disney movie “Frozen”), and “Sorry Not Sorry” (2017). She was also featured on the 2018 hit single by the British EDM group Clean Bandit, “Solo”. Lovato hasn’t abandoned her acting career either since her music took off, having appeared in such movies as the 2017 animated movie “Smurfs: The Lost Village” as a voice talent, and in the 2020 comedy “Eurovision Song Contest: The Story of Fire Saga”.
