Christina Aguilera Biography

Christina Aguilera is an American singer, songwriter, and actress. She was born on December 18, 1980 in New York City, New York. Aguilera’s mother was a musician, while his father was in the US Army. She aspired to be a singer from a very young age, having won a local talent show at age 8 with her cover of Whitney Houston’s 1987 dance pop song "I Wanna Dance with Somebody (Who Loves Me)".

6 years later, she got cast on the Disney Channel’s variety show The Mickey Mouse Club as a musical and sketch performer. In 1998, she went to Japan where she recorded her first single “All I Wanna Do”, a duet with Japanese pop-rock singer Keizo Nakanishi. The same year, she got hired by Disney to sing the vocals for a song in their new animated movie “Mulan”.

This all led to Aguilera releasing her self-titled debut album, “Christina Aguilera” in August 1999. It became a massive hit, topping the famous Billboard 200 chart in the US. In 2000, she went on her first nationwide Christina Aguilera concert tour.

For her new project in 2002, she decided to put on a more adult, sexy persona. That is why her fourth album’s title was “Stripped”, while the lead single on it was “Dirrty”. She did get into some controversy for the overly sexually explicit music video she made for her lead single. However, the ploy ultimately worked, and her new album got back near the top, peaking at the #2 spot on Billboard 200.

Overall, Aguilera has put out 9 full studio albums during her career. The best selling one remained her self-titled debut album which sold 14 million copies worldwide. Meanwhile, the latest new Christina Aguilera album is yet another self-titled project, “Aguilera”, which came out in May 2022.

Christina Aguilera’s biggest hits to date are “Come on Over Baby (All I Want is You)” (2000), “Lady Marmalade” (2001) featuring Mya, Pink, and Lil' Kim, “Candyman” (2006), and “Hurt” (also 2006). She was also featured on the hit tracks “Feel This Moment” by Pitbull in 2013, and “Moves Like Jagger” by Maroon 5 in 2010.

In 2011, she became a judge on the inaugural season of the reality-talent show The Voice. She stayed on the show for 6 seasons. Check where the nearest Christina Aguilera concert is playing on our page above.
