Anthrax Biography
Formed in 1981 in New York City, Anthrax is known for pioneering and popularizing the thrash metal genre alongside bands like Metallica, Slayer, and Megadeth. The band's lineup has evolved over the years, with notable members including Scott Ian, Charlie Benante, Joey Belladonna, Frank Bello, and Jonathan Donais.
Anthrax gained fame and recognition through their relentless touring, and the release of influential albums such as "Among the Living," "Spreading the Disease," and "Persistence of Time." Their unique blend of aggressive guitar riffs and drumming propelled them into the forefront of the thrash metal movement during the 1980s and 1990s.
Some of Anthrax's most famous songs include "Caught in a Mosh," "Madhouse," "Indians," and "I Am the Law." These tracks have become iconic within the thrash metal genre, exemplifying the band's ability to craft high-energy, mosh pit-inducing anthems that resonate with metal enthusiasts worldwide.
Anthrax has put out 11 studio albums, along with various other albums and 26 singles. They even teamed up with the American hip-hop group Public Enemy for a single. Four of their studio albums, namely "Among the Living," "State of Euphoria," "Persistence of Time," and "Sound of White Noise," have earned gold certifications from the RIAA. According to Nielsen SoundScan, Anthrax sold 2.5 million records in the United States between 1991 and 2004, with a total of 10 million records sold worldwide.
Anthrax has drawn inspiration from a range of musical styles, including classic rock and hard rock. Acts like AC/DC, Kiss, Queen, and Journey have influenced them. Anthrax even covered songs by these artists on their EP titled "Anthems."

Glasgow feels like a second home for Anthrax now! I've seen them perform there five times before, and this will be my sixth. I'm excited because I'm also a fan of Kreator, and this will be my first time seeing them live, even though I've been a fan of theirs for as long as I've been an Anthrax fan.

I saw them in 1987, and they completely amazed me. I'm really looking forward to seeing them again.

I didn't even know about Anthrax back then. My first time seeing them was in 1993 at the Barrowlands. It wasn't until 2005 that I finally got to see them with Joey. During "Caught In A Mosh," my glasses got crushed, and I had to watch the rest of the show half-blind. But despite that, I still loved seeing the classic lineup back in action.

Haha, funny how things turn out! Three guys rushed out of the mosh pit and crashed straight into me. I didn't think I was close enough to get caught up in it, but I was definitely wrong about that.

Awesome, got my tickets for Glasgow too! Can't wait to see Kreator live as well, it's going to be epic. I remember seeing you with Slayer back in 2018, that was an incredible show!

yeah I see three headliners here as well. They should have had Metallica as the warmup band on the bill instead. Oh I miss the days when they warmed up for Venom

Metallica from back then would blow most headliners off the stage... would be hard to do that with these 3 though! Ideally, I'd like to have seen Anthrax, Kreator AND Testament as the headliners, and Shadows Fall as the support act.
