Louis William Tomlinson, born as Louis Troy Austin, is an English singer and songwriter. He was born on December 24, 1991 in Doncaster, United Kingdom. He legally changed his name to Louis Tomlinson as a child, changing his surname to his step father's, as his biological father left the family when he was just a toddler. In high school, he had to repeat a grade due to failing marks. However, he was also part of many musical productions in his school. This gave him the idea to audition for the reality-talent show The X-Factor at age 18.
While he didn’t make it to the bootcamp part of the competition as a solo artist, he got grouped together with four other contestants by the judges. Thus Tomlinson, Zayn Malik, Harry Styles, Niall Horan, and Liam Payne formed the boyband "One Direction" in 2010. They ended up finishing 3rd (Matt Cardle won the show), and it launched their careers to international stardom.
The pop band released 5 studio albums together between 2011 and 2015, all of which selling millions of copies, and 4 out of the 5 topping the Billboard 200 chart in the US. These records included such hits as "What Makes You Beautiful" (2011), and "Drag Me Down" (2015). However, in March 2015, Zayn Malik decided to announce his departure from the group to focus on his solo career. This ultimately led to the band dismantling by the end of 2016.
Tomlinson too put out his debut single as a solo artist, "Just Hold On" in the end of 2016, which peaked at the #2 spot on the UK Singles chart. His debut album came out in January 2020, with the title "Walls". It became a hit, peaking at the #4 spot on the OCC chart in the UK, and climbing to the #9 spot on Billboard 200 in the US. As a result, he got to go on his first worldwide Louis Tomlinson concert tour as a solo artist between 2020 and 2022. The new Louis Tomlinson album is set to be released in November 2022, with the title "Faith in the Future".
Tomlinson's biggest solo hits to date are "Back to You" (2017) featuring Bebe Rexha and Digital Farm Animals, "Miss You" (also 2017), and "Two of Us" (2020). In 2018, he appeared on the 15th season of the British X Factor as a judge. Check where the next Louis Tomlinson concert is playing near you on our page above.
