Widely known within the EDM universe, Steve Aoki is a DJ and producer born in Miami, USA. Aoki has worked with many artists like will.i.am, Alan Walker, and BTS, known for remixing songs by artists such as Kid Cudi. He has put out seven albums, some of which made it to the Billboard charts, including his first album "Wonderland" which got a Grammy nomination in 2013. Recently, in 2024, Gold House acknowledged him as one of the Most Impactful Asians.
Steve Aoki finished high school at Newport Harbor High in 1995. His dad, Rocky, was a wrestler and the creator of Benihana restaurants. He has an older sister named Kana (sometimes known as "Grace"), an older brother named Kevin (who owns Doraku Sushi), and a half-sister who is a model and actress named Devon Aoki.
By constantly touring, Steve Aoki built strong support among college audiences. He's famous for his energetic crowd surfing, throwing cake at fans, spraying champagne, and even partying on rafts on the dance floor. With an average of 250 shows per year, he began touring extensively with bus productions, like the Deadmeat Tour in the spring of 2012, where he headlined over 55 cities on 60 dates across the U.S. and Canada.
Many of the artists he collaborates with join him on tour. Steve Aoki also performs in less common places – like in Beijing, China, in 2009 with Diplo. In 2012, he was recognized in the Pollstar Top 100 North American Tours as the highest-earning dance artist in the region for the first half of that year.
In 2013, Steve Aoki teamed up with Linkin Park for the track "A Light That Never Comes," which then got featured on the remix album "Recharged" just 18 days later. Various remix versions of the song were also released in January 2014 as part of the digital EP "A Light That Never Comes (Remixes)."
Steve Aoki dropped the single "Pretender" in 2018, which included collaborations with AJR and rapper Lil Yachty. Later that year, Steve Aoki did a remix of Rita Ora's popular song "Girls."
