Måneskin Biography
Formed in Rome, Italy, in 2016, Måneskin is a rock band, that got famous in the 2017's Italian edition of X Factor. Their big break came when they won the Eurovision Song Contest 2021 with "Zitti e buoni." With three studio albums, an EP, and 13 singles, they've dominated Italian and European charts, earning 34 platinum and 7 gold certifications. The band has over 40 million records sold, and a huge number of numerous diamond, platinum, and gold certifications.
The band includes lead vocalist Damiano David, bassist Victoria De Angelis, guitarist Thomas Raggi, and drummer Ethan Torchio. Damiano, Victoria, and Thomas became acquainted during high school in Rome, with Ethan joining them later after they posted an ad seeking a drummer on Facebook.
During the registration process, they settled on the name Måneskin ('moonlight'), suggested by Victoria, who is part Danish. Despite its unrelated meaning, they liked the sound of it. The contest encouraged them to start writing their own music, and their victory at Felt Music Club & school was a turning point.
In 2017, Måneskin competed in Italy's X Factor, mentored by Manuel Agnelli, and finished second. They performed covers like "Beggin'" and "Take Me Out", as well as their original song "Chosen", which became a hit. Right after that, they released an EP called "Chosen" with covers from the show.
In 2018, Måneskin premiered a documentary, "This Is Måneskin", to promote the album. After that, they released several successful singles and embarked on a sold-out tour across Europe, including Spain, France, and the UK.
In 2020 the group surprised everyone by winning the Sanremo Music Festival 2021 with their song "Zitti e buoni". This victory led them to represent Italy at the Eurovision Song Contest 2021 in Rotterdam, where they claimed victory with "Zitti e buoni", becoming the first band to win since 2006. The win marked Italy's third triumph in the contest's history.
The group's third studio album, "Rush!," came out in early 2023. They were also nominated for the Best New Artist category at the 65th Annual Grammy Awards.
Right after that, Måneskin debuted at the Glastonbury Festival and embarked on the Rush! World Tour from September to December, touring the whole world.
