Julión Álvarez Biography

Julión Álvarez, hailing from La Concordia, Mexico, is a renowned singer known within the regional Mexican music genre. Julión began his music career in 2003 with the band Banda MS and remained with them until 2006, after that, Julión launched his solo career, forming Julión Álvarez y su Norteño Banda. In 2011, he married Nathaly Fernández.

In 2014, Julión Álvarez joined the Mexican talent show "La Voz... Mexico" as a coach, where he successfully led his pupil, Guido Rochin, to victory. His 2015 album "El Aferrado" was nominated for Best Banda Album at the 16th Annual Latin Grammy Awards, and his song "El Amor de Su Vida" was nominated for Best Regional Song. In 2016, Álvarez embarked on a groundbreaking 22-Foot Arena Tour in the United States, marking a first for a regional Mexican act. His album "Mis Ídolos, Hoy Mis Amigos!!!" was also nominated for Best Banda Album at the 2016 Latin Grammy Awards.

In 2017, Julión faced significant legal problems when the U.S. government froze his assets and prohibited other companies from doing business with the Mexican singer, citing alleged violations of the Foreign Narcotics Kingpin Designation Act. This led to the cancellation of his U.S. tour. The singer of course, denied the allegations.

Despite these struggles, Julión's album "Ni Diablo, Ni Santo" was nominated for Best Regional Mexican Music Album at the 60th Annual Grammy Awards on that same year. In 2022, five years later, the allegations were lifted, allowing Julión to conduct business in the U.S.
