In an interview with The Fader, Isaiah Rashad disclosed that "The House Is Burning" was scheduled for release in June 2021. The anticipation grew when, on May 7, 2021, he dropped the album's inaugural single, "Lay wit Ya," featuring Duke Deuce. Accompanying the single was a visually striking music video directed by Omar Jones. Notably, the release marked a significant milestone for Rashad, as the digital platform credits for the song revealed his joint venture with Warner Records.
Building on the momentum, on June 17, 2021, Rashad unveiled the album's second single, "Headshots (4r da Locals)," accompanied by a visually compelling music video directed by Jack Begert and Mez Heirs. As the release date approached, Rashad heightened the excitement on July 7, 2021, by unveiling the album's cover art and announcing a July 30 release date across his social media platforms. The album received acclaim, with Pitchfork giving it a rating of 7.6 out of 10.
