Iron Maiden is a British heavy metal band that was founded in 1975 in Leyton, England. The founding members were bassist Steve Harris (born in Leytonstone, England in 1956), lead vocalist Paul Day (Whitechapel, England, 1956), guitarist Terry Rance (1953), guitarist Dave Sullivan (1956), and drummer Ron “Rebel” Matthews (1948). There have been many changes in the line-up of the band over the years. Most of the founding members left even before the band released an official single, only performing at early sets of an Iron Maiden concert.
Steve Harris, the only one of the initial members who is still around, decided to form the new metal group on Christmas Day 1975, after leaving the band "Smiler". He named it after a medieval torture device (the existence of which may be just a modern myth). They started off by performing in local pubs. One of those pubs in Maryland, Stratford is now officially labeled as “The Birthplace of Iron Maiden”, and it is evidently a popular destination for music fans.
The first few years of the band’s existence were marred by departures, inner tension, and even a temporary dismantlement. However, in 1978, one of the songs they recorded for a demo tape got popular among the local English club going crowd. It even got to the top of the chart in Sounds Magazine, a late British weekly pop/rock music newspaper.
This ultimately led to Iron Maiden signing their first contract with the label EMI in December 1979. At that point, they had Paul Di'Anno as their lead vocalist. In 1980, two of their songs appeared on a metal compilation album titled “Metal for Muthas”.
Iron Maiden released their self-titled debut album in April 1980, which gained critical and commercial success. It peaked at the #4 spot on the Official Chart Company’s (OCC) chart in the United Kingdom. The biggest hits on the tracklist were “Running Free” and “Sanctuary”.
Since then, the prolific band has released no less than 16 more studio albums, 17 in total. The most successful of those have been “Fear of Dark” (1992), “The Final Frontier” (2010), and “The Book of Souls” (2015). Meanwhile, their most recent new Iron Maiden album came out in September 2021, with the title “Senjutsu”.
To date, the biggest hits in the Iron Maiden setlist are "Hallowed Be Thy Name" (1982), "The Trooper" (1983), "Wasted Years" (1986), and the titular single of their 1992 album, “Fear of Dark”.

In their current line-up, they have the founder Steve Harris on the bass, Dave Murray on the lead guitar, Adrian Smith on the rhythm guitar, Bruce Dickinson as the lead vocalist, Nicko McBrain on the drums, and, finally, Janick Gers as a third guitarist. Been a fan of Maiden since I was 13, and the memories are just unbeatable! My collection includes all the albums, tees, posters, DVDs – you name it. Sometimes it feels like we're just part of this massive machine, you know? But that gig in Dublin recently was pure fire – 100%! Loving the energy, but it's kind of bittersweet. It's like their eyes are set on North/South America, forgetting the European fanbase that's been ride-or-die since day one. Come on, Maiden, don't leave us hanging!

And the new music is just not clicking for me; I find it a bit tedious. It's interesting how everyone else seems to be saying it's great, but for some reason, it's not resonating with my taste. Different strokes for different folks, I guess.

this is not an excuse to only tour in one place. for the new music thing i can understand, music taste can change, but for only touring in south america? thats not an excuse

Idk, i think at this point the band is already a massive business. This means they need a lot of incoming $$$ to keep the business alive.

Ik, but you cant expect them to be touring globally every single year, plus i dont even think the market is good for them now. Dont forget a band is a business

I know it all comes down to money at the end of the day.. Still my view is that they could be touring more, they have public and people willing to pay for it.

I get it, like I said, I know it depends on the market, but what I'm saying is that they have people willing to pay, and I mean, a lot of people willing to pay to see them live. Still i think there's not reason for not touring
