Ice Cube Biography

Famous for his work with N.W.A, solo career, and his participation in many Hollywood movies, O'Shea Jackson Sr., also known as Ice Cube, is a rapper and actor, who initially gained fame with N.W.A's album "Straight Outta Compton," bringing to gangsta rap to the spotlight. After leaving N.W.A due to money issues, Cube embarked on his solo career, releasing albums like "AmeriKKKa's Most Wanted," and taking part in films like "Boyz n the Hood" and "Friday." Throughout Ice Cube's very successful career, he was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame with N.W.A., and in 2017, he was honored with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in Hollywood.

Ice Cube was born in LA and had many struggles during his childhood. Cube grew up in South Los Angeles with an older brother and a half-sister who was tragically killed. He decided to start writing rap songs while in high school. The nickname Ice Cube came from a joke made by his brother. At the early age of 16, Ice Cube joined N.W.A as the lead rapper and main ghostwriter for their debut album "Straight Outta Compton." After leaving the rap collective, Cube decided to go solo. He also wrote "Boyz-n-the-Hood" for Eazy-E, which helped establish gangsta rap.

In the early 90s, Ice Cube released his debut album which made the rapper gain a lot of popularity for his solo works. His second album, "Death Certificate," came out in 91. The album included a diss track for his former group N.W.A., which he left due to legal disputes. By 92, released "The Predator," his most commercially successful album. One year later, started to embrace the the G-funk style, releasing "Lethal Injection," which despite efforts, received negative reviews from critics. In the 90s, Cube collaborated with many bands and artists, including David Bowie and Korn.

From 2006 to 2012, Ice Cube worked and released a lot of material, a very important one, "Laugh Now, Cry Later," Cube's seventh album, which came out in 2006, Cube was honored at VH1's Hip Hop Honors and toured globally quickly after that. In 2012, his tenth album came out, "Everythang's Corrupt," which was politically charged. In 2020, Cube formed the supergroup Mount Westmore with Snoop Dogg, E-40, and Too Short, releasing their debut album in 2022.

Ever since, Ice Cube has been seen as one of the most important and influential rappers of all time, not only for his early works with N.W.A., but also for his recent works and participation in films.
