Pradeep Rangaswamy Kumar is an Indian playback singer and music director. He was born on May 12, 1986 in Tiruchirappalli, Tamil Nadu, India. Kumar was born into a musical family: his mother taught the traditional South Indian music known as Carnatic. The young Pradeep often joined his mother in singing these songs. As he got older, he started studying with J. Venkataraman from the Aalathur School of Music. He also discovered playback singing, the technique of actors lip syncing to pre-recorded songs, popular in Indian films.

After finishing his secondary education, he studied engineering in college, dropped out, then started another university program to become an audio engineer. During his studies, he also learnt about music composition.

In 2003, his singing talent was discovered in a competition hosted by the music studio Carnatica in Chennai, Tamil Nadu. Music producer K. Shashikiran asked him to stay in Chennai after the competition was over, and the two started working together. He also kept doing Pradeep Kumar concert shows as a kacheri musician across India. He also breifly served as the secretary for the Youth Association of Classical Music in Chennai.

Kumar is best known for composing scores for Indian movies. He first worked on the documentary "Arunagiri Perumale", which came out in 2016 and is about an Indian band performing a concert with a full symphony orchestra in Boston, Massachusetts in 2014. Shortly after, Kumar started working with composer Santhosh Narayanan. Kumar first performed the duties of an acoustic guitarist for Narayanan's projects, then he also sang and wrote music for him. He also collaborated with Indian singer Sean Roldan.

Kumar made his film debut as a music composer in the 2017 romantic comedy "Meyaadha Maan". He wrote two songs for the soundtrack. For the 2019 thriller "Aadai", however, he wrote the main score.

Since then, he has written the score for 5 more Bollywood films. The most recent one is the psychological drama "Kuthiraivaal" from March 2022.
