Famous in the contemporary Christian music community, Chris Tomlin is a singer from Grand Saline, Texas. Chris' music focuses mainly on Christian worship songs, which made him win 23 GMA Dove Awards, a Grammy Award for Best Contemporary Christian Music Album for his 2012 album "And If Our God Is for Us...", and two RIAA certified platinum albums.
Chris started his love for Christian music at a very early age. When he was 13, Chris started singing at the Main Street Baptist church in Grand Saline. He wrote his first worship song when he was fourteen. In high school, he learned how to lead worship in his youth group. Fast forward to 1995, he released his first single independently, but a few years later he signed to his first record label.
During his career, Chris has toured alongside heavy-weight artists like including Michael W. Smith, and MercyMe. He has also headlined several tours himself and has also teamed up with Passion Conferences for music festivals around the world.
Chris' most powerful songs that made him gain a very loyal fan base are "How Great is Our God," "Amazing Grace (My Chains Are Gone)," and "Our God," which have become timeless classics in contemporary Christian music.
Even though his very busy schedule, Chris always reserved time for good causes. He is part of CompassionArt, a charity and songwriting team that released an album in 2008. In 2014, he joined the board of directors of CURE International, a nonprofit that offers medical care to children in developing countries.
