From the city of Zaragoza, in Spain, Enrique Ortiz de Landázuri Izarduy, also known as Enrique Bunbury, or simply Bunbury, is a singer known for his contributions for the Spanish rock music. Bunbury first got famous as the frontman of the band Héroes del Silencio. After Héroes del Silencio disbanded in 1996, Bunbury decided to go on a successful solo career.
Bunbury started his journey in the music universe in the early 1980s with bands like Apocalipsis and Proceso Entrópico. By 84, he was singing for Zumo de Vidrio. Adopting the name Bunbury from an Oscar Wilde play, he later formed the band Héroes del Silencio. Following their split, Bunbury began his solo career in 97 with the electro-rock album "Radical Sonora."
In 2005, Bunbury disbanded his energetic group, Huracán Ambulante (Wandering Hurricane in English), after eight years together due to frustrations with his record label and personal uncertainties. At that time, Bunbury was looking for new horizons, he traveled to Cuba and later collaborated with Spanish singer-songwriter Nacho Vegas on the album "El Tiempo De Las Cerezas," released in 2006 alongside a brief tour and a live DVD from a performance in Barcelona.
Two years later, Héroes del Silencio reunited for a special worldwide tour named "Tour 2007," commemorating their 20th anniversary and a decade since their breakup. The tour spanned ten cities including Buenos Aires, Los Angeles, Mexico City, Valencia, and others.
By that time, Bunbury formed a new band called Los Santos Inocentes. The group released 8 albums. Unlike his time with the ban Héroes del Silencio, Bunbury's solo career brought very diverse musical styles while maintaining a rock essence. Starting from electronic and Middle Eastern influences early on, he has explored cabaret, rancheras, blues, salsa, and other genres.
In 2022, sad news was announced for Enrique Bunbury's fans. The star announced announced his retirement from the stages. Bunbury mentioned health issues. Originally scheduled to conclude in September, the tour was cut short on May 10 when Bunbury canceled the remaining dates due to a deterioration in his health. On March 2023, he surprised fans with news of a comeback tour set for 2024.
