Juan Carlos Ozuna Rosado, better known by his stage mononym Ozuna, is a Puerto Rican-Dominican singer, rapper, and songwriter. He was born on March 13, 1992 in San Juan, Puerto Rico. His father, a professional dancer, was Dominican, while his mother is Puerto Rican. Sadly, his father was shot dead, which resulted in financial difficulties for the family on top of the emotional trauma. The young Uzona built up a passion for music early on. He liked classic Latin genres, such as salsa and bachata, as well as reggaeton stars Daddy Yankee and Don Omar, and American hip hop as well.
He decided to become a singer at age 12. As a teenager, he got a job at a bar where he also performed from time to time. He worked for an album for the Latin urban music duo “Musicologist & Menes”, aka “Los de la Nazza” before signing his first contract as a solo performer in 2014 with Golden Family Records. His popularity grew, and managed to book over 300 live Ozuna concert shows in Puerto Rico in one year. He also put out hit singles: “Imaginando” (which translates to “Imagining” in English) in 2012 and "Si Tu Marido No Te Quiere” (“If Your Husband Doesn’t Love You”) in 2015.
This all led to Ozuna putting out his debut album “Odisea” in August 2017. It found great success, topping the Latin Albums chart by Billboard in the US, while also climbing to the #22 spot on the overall Billboard 200 chart.
Overall, Ozuna has released 5 studio albums during his career. The best selling one among them so far has been his debut album, the aforementioned “Odisea” with around 1.1 million in sales. Meanwhile, the new Ozuna album is titled “Ozutochi”, which is set to be released in late 2022 or early 2023.
Ozuna’s biggest hits to date are “El Farsante” (“The Faker”, 2017) featuring Romeo Santos, “Se Prepáró” (“Got Ready”, also 2017), and “Vaina Loca” (“Crazy Thing”, 2018). He was also featured on the 2019 hit single by DJ Snake “Taki Taki”, along with Selena Gomez and Cardi B. On top of all that, Ozuna appeared in the 2021 blockbuster movie “Fast & Furious 9” as well. It's crazy how his most played song is actually a feature lol
Not quite a feature, it was produced by DJ Snake, but DJ Snake is also the producer for a lot of other artists' songs, so it just like it's Ozuna's own song
