J. Cole Biography

Born in Germany but raised in Fayetteville, USA, J. Cole, or Jermaine Lamarr Cole, is a very respected and important rapper in the hip-hop and rap community. Cole debuted his career back in 2007 and caught the public's attention with his single "The Come Up" that same year. Nowadays, Cole is one of the most successful rappers in the world, alongside rappers like Kendrick Lamar, Young Thug, and others.

In 2009, 2 years after his debut, Cole signed with Jay Z's Roc Nation. This decision was extremely important to Cole as it was not only a business move, but also being signed to Jay Z's brand, aligned with Cole's principles and ideas, something that is still important today for Cole.

Cole's relationship with music comes from an early age, self-taught on piano, his inspirations came from OG rappers like Nas and Tupac. Cole started by producing other artists. Cole has credits on projects of some big names in the industry like Janet Jackson, Mac Miller, and others.

Cole has won two Grammy Awards and has been nominated for seventeen. He also got a Billboard Music Award for Top Rap Album, three Soul Train Music Awards, and eight BET Hip Hop Awards. All of his albums, including "Revenge of the Dreamers III," have been certified platinum by the Recording Industry Association of America.

Cole always kept an attitude of trying to guide emerging rappers, but he ended up being in a confrontation with the trap artist Lil Pump. Cole said in an interview that he could predict the downfall of some new rappers, that's because of their lifestyle and not-so-smart business decisions. Lil Pump later released a song calling out Cole for those words, but both of them eventually decided not to move forward with the fight as it was not worth it.

That's good. but I've noticed fewer American artists touring outside the US for concerts nowadays; it seems like only the big ones are touring globally
