Carlo Waibel, known by his stage name Cro, is a German rapper, popular for his unique musical style, known as "raop" (a blend of rap and pop). Cro is easily recognizable by the panda mask he wears during performances. He grew up in Aalen, and in 2009, he released his first mixtape "Trash," followed by "Meine Musik" in 2011, which he produced himself and offered for free. His work caught the attention of musician Kaas, leading to a connection with Chimperator Productions, where he signed later that year.
In 2011, Cro released "Easy," which quickly went viral, reaching over 44 million views by mid-2012. Cro performed on ZDFneo's NeoParadise and released the "Easy" mixtape for free. In 2012, he signed with Universal Music Publishing and launched the "Pandas Gone Wild!" tour. "Easy" became a hit, entering the German charts at number two and earning gold certification. Cro's debut album "Raop" was released in July, with multiple singles charting in the Top 100.
In 2012, Cro released a free mixtape "Raop" with 16 remixes from his album. He competed in the Bundesvision Song Contest with "Horst & Monika," finishing fifth. Throughout his very successful career, Cro won several awards, including being named iTunes' Newcomer of the Year. In 2013, he won a Swiss Music Award and collaborated with H&M on a clothing line.
