Svetlana Ražnatović, better known by her stage name Ceca, is a Serbian singer and television personality. She was born on June 14, 1973 in Prokuplje, Yugoslavia. Ceca was born and raised in a small village in the part of Communist Yugoslavia that is Serbia today. She went to an agricultural vocational school. Her singing talent was first discovered by an accordion player named Mirko Kodić in Montenegro in her teenage years, while she was vacationing with her family. Kodić helped Ceca through the earliest stages of her music career. This all resulted in the release of Ceca’s debut album, “Cvetak Zanovetak” in 1988, when she was still only 15.
Breakthrough came for the young Serbian artist with the release of her fifth album in September 1993, which originally came out with the title “Šta je to u tvojim venama”, but then later got renamed to the much snappier “Kukavica”. As a result, she got to go on her first nationwide Cece concert tour as a headlining act. The newfound success of her career was partly brought on by her starting to work with the songwriting duo Marina Tucaković and Milan Radulović.
Since then, Ceca has released 13 more studio albums, thus she has 18 in total. The best selling one among them so far has been “Decenija” from October 2001, which ended up selling an impressive 800,000 copies. Meanwhile, the latest new Ceca album was released in June 2016, with the title “Autogram”.
Ceca’s biggest hits to date are “Pile” (2006), “Ime I Prezime” (2013), “Autrogram” (2016, same title as her album), and “Metar odavde” (also 2016) featuring Tropico Band. Also, she played the main character on the Serbian period piece TV show “Tajna neciste krvi” on the Serbian channel Happy TV.
