Summer Sonic Festival (サマーソニック) is a well-known music festival held in Japan. The festival kicked off in 2000 at the Fuji-Q Highland resort in Yamanashi Prefecture. It then shifted to Chiba in 2001, which is just east of Tokyo. Since 2002, the festival has been taking place simultaneously in both Chiba and Osaka.
Every year the festival brings to Japan some heavy-weight international artists like Bring Me The Horizon, AJR, and Aurora. If you're a fan of some good Japanese music, don't worry because this event is for you as well, previous editions had Japanese artists like Suiyōbi no Campanella (水曜日のカンパネラ), and Atarashii no Gakkou Leaders (新しい学校のリーダーズ).
The 2009 and 2011 versions of the festival lasted for three days, whereas all other editions have been two days long. Occasionally, international versions of the festival have been held outside of Japan, such as in Shanghai in 2017 and Bangkok in 2024.
