Trendy Artists of the Week: Sum 41, Falling in Reverse, Hans Zimmer, Slipknot, Jack Harlow
Now, let's check in again on what the most popular artists on our site this past week have been up to lately. Here's a nice collection of industry news featuring Sum 41, Falling in Reverse, and more.
Sum 41 Is on a Major Domestic Tour in January
Canada has been in the news a lot lately, due to US President-elect Donald Trump’s appetite for its land. Canadians, however, are proud people, who take pride in their culture - such as the rock band Sum 41, which is touring their homeland all January. They have been putting on live shows in places like Victoria, Vancouver, and Kelowna; and they are still coming to Calgary, Edmonton, Saskatoon, Winnipeg, and Ottawa, among others, this month. They also have another concert scheduled back in Vancouver with fellow Canuck music star Michael Bublé on March 30th as well.
Falling in Reverse’s Ronnie Radke to Be Featured on New Slaughter To Prevail Song
Falling In Reverse founder and lead singer Ronnie Radke has also been in the news for reasons unrelated to music. He has been mainly talked about for his political views unusual in the entertainment industry and his frivolous copyright claims and lawsuits. His music career is still going strong too, however, with his latest album “Popular Monster” from 2024 being a pretty big hit.
His latest project is rumored to be a guest artist appearance on an upcoming track by the Russian deathcore band Slaughter to Prevail. This information is coming from the band’s vocalist Alex Terrible directly, although an official release date is yet to be announced.
Hans Zimmer Snubbed at Oscars for Dune 2 Score
German composer Hans Zimmer has won two Oscars for his scores for feature films (and has been nominated another 10 times as well). This year, however, he won’t be adding to his Oscar tally, as his score for the movie “Dune: Part Two” has been ruled ineligible by the Academy. The reason: it exceeds the mandated limit for pre-existing music, Variety Magazine reports. Zimmer can still snatch a Golden Globe or a Critics Choice award for his latest work, though.
Slipknot Lead Vocalist Still Not Ready to Retire
Slipknot lead vocalist Corey Taylor has been with the Des Moines, Iowa-based metal band since 1997. He is 51 years old. He has recently complained in an interview with Rock Feed that the constant touring and performing is wearing down his body. Metalheads don’t need to worry too much, however, as his planned solution is not to retire, just simply cutting down on Slipknot’s tour dates.
Jack Harlow Drops New Single “Tranquility”
Meanwhile, American hip hop artist Jack Harlow has dropped a brand new, chill track, titled "Tranquility". It's linked below for you, so take a listen if you like.
