Top10 Worldwide Music Selection from Concerty - March 2025

The music world didn't stop in March either, with a number of bangers trending on Spotify all around the world. Here's our very own brief selection of them, as per tradition here at Concerty, at the beginning of the new month.

Bad Bunny - BAILE INoLVIDABLE (DOMINICAN REPUBLIC)

Famed Puerto Rican rapper and reggaeton singer Bad Bunny started off the new year by dropping a new album, “Debí Tirar Más Fotos,” and its impact is still rippling through Latin American countries. You can hardly find any country in the region where many of the top songs on Spotify aren’t off of this record - and the Dominican Republic was no exception last month.

Critics also loved the new release, with Metacritic aggregating an impressive score of 95 out of 100 based on 8 reviews. A reviewer for Rolling Stone Magazine described the album as “homegrown, jubilant, and fresh". Based on the number of streams it continues to get three months after its release, it is safe to say that critics didn’t miss the mark with this one. For a little sample, here’s one of the top tracks on it, “BAILE INoLVIDABLE”.

Sakanaction - Kaiju (JAPAN)

Next up, let’s go to Japan, from where we bring another local rock band for you - just a few months ago, we included a song from Mrs. GREEN APPLE in this column. Now, here’s Sakanaction with their new track “Kaiju,” another favorite of Japanese rock fans lately.

Drake - Nokia (CANADA)

Everyone was wondering how Canadian R&B superstar Drake was going to come out of his beef with Kendrick Lamar, which - by all reasonable assessments - was an utter disaster for him.

Now, it seems that “Drizzy” is finally starting to put W’s up the board again, as his futuristic, fun, upbeat new song "NOKIA" (evidently named after the Finnish cell phone maker popular in the 2000’s) has been charting high on Spotify all last month in many countries around the world, including his own Canada.

Achille Lauro - Incoscienti giovani (ITALY)

Italian Achille Lauro is one versatile artist: he has produced songs in the genres of hip hop, pop, and rock as well. He has been around since the early 2010s, rising from the underground rap scene of Verona, Italy

His latest track to pop off in Italy, “Incoscienti giovani,” happens to be a soft pop song. It is linked below for your listening pleasure.

Jenni Vartiainen - Leima (feat. Turisti) (FINLAND)

After the warmth of Italy, let’s get back to the cold again. This time, not to Canada, but to Finland. There, one of the nation’s bona fide pop stars, Jenni Vartiainen had a winner last month. It is the track “Leima” featuring fellow Finnish singer-songwriter (and also fashion designer) Turisti.

Essam Sasa - ولاد الشمس (EGYPT)

As for music from Africa, we’ve got Egyptian pop singer Essam Sasa for you, with his track “ولاد الشمس” from this February, which continues to be popular among local Spotify users.

Alemán -  Te Quería Ver (MEXICO)

Up next, we’ve got some Mexican hip hop for you, which is somewhat of a rarity in this monthly column. In Latin American countries, typically Puerto Rican, American, or Colombian hip hop or reggaeton artists satiate people’s appetite for rap music. 35-year-old rapper Alemán hailing from Cabo San Lucas, Mexico, however, managed to break through that barrier. His new single “Te Quería Ver” was one of the most popular tracks among Mexican Spotify users last month.

Jazeek - AKON (Germany)

To prove to you what you’ve probably known, that hip hop is very popular across all the major countries and languages of the world, here’s a track from Germany from the same genre. Local rapper Jazeek pays homage to his fellow hip hop artist, Senegalese-American Akon in the title. However, the lyrics themselves only have one brief reference to the artist at the very end - basically, Jazeek is urging his “date” for the night to get going on him before he plays an Akon song.

It’s not clear if he meant it as a threat or as an invitation for a good time, but either way, the song was a big hit in Germany.

Osher Cohen - מאחל לך טוב (ISRAEL)

Let’s take a quick look at what’s been popular in the country of Israel, where, unfortunately, the armed conflict has not calmed. Mizrahi and pop singer Osher Cohen managed to provide some moments of levity. His song “מאחל לך טוב” was a big hit among local music fans.

Emilia Mernes - blackout feat. Nicki Nicole & Tini (ARGENTINA)

To close down our March selection, we’ve got a cool song from Argentina - and a pretty face to go with it. It’s the energetic funk track “blackout” with an EDM-type beat from Emilia Mernes, also featuring fellow Argentine ladies Nicki Nicole and Tini on the track.
