AXTY Interview - U.S. Tour, DISMAY, 2025 & more

We've chatted with AXTY about their U.S. tour and ambitious plans for 2025, including the release of their new album DISMAY and the impact the band is making on the Brazilian heavy metal scene.

AXTY Band members

AXTY, one of Brazil's rising metalcore bands, reflects on their milestone 2024 focused on international expansion, including signing with US agency 33West and planning their first North American tour. If you don't know, we've talked to AXTY in October 2023 here and it's a pleasure to have them back one year later. The band discusses their special CBLOL appearance alongside Edu Falaschi and Lucas Inutilismo, while sharing insights about their current US tour experiences and audience reception. Don't miss this candid conversation with one of the most exciting voices in Brazilian heavy music today.

Let's dive into it!

2024, CBLOL & more

CONCERTY: First of all, it's a huge pleasure to talk to you again! It’s been a while since our first interview in October 2023. Looking back at 2024, what’s one word that would sum up the year for you and why?

Felipi Grivol: The word that defines 2024 for us is INTERNATIONALIZATION. This year was a milestone for us, as we signed with 33West, a U.S. agency that represents bands like Born of Osiris and Carnifex. This allowed us to plan our first North American tour for early 2025, which is a huge step for the band. We also started releasing singles from our fourth album, incorporating Brazilian cultural elements into metalcore—from folklore references in the cover art to blending Brazilian genres in our compositions. 2024 was the year we solidified this vision and took a big leap onto the global stage.

CONCERTY: In 2024, you also had a special appearance at CBLOL alongside Edu Falaschi and Lucas Inutilismo. How was that collaboration, and what did it mean to you both musically and personally?

Jonathas Pesciera: It was an amazing surprise when we got the invite because we all have a personal connection to Riot’s games. Being part of such a huge event was already special, but sharing that moment with Edu Falaschi and Lucas Inutilismo took it to another level. We admire them a lot, and the chemistry between everyone made the process feel natural. In the end, we delivered an epic performance, and it was an honor to be part of it.

The U.S. Tour

CONCERTY: We also have to talk about your U.S. tour, which is still ongoing as we do this interview. How has it been so far?

Felipe Hervoso: The tour has been incredible! Every day is a new experience, and we’re learning a lot from being in the U.S. The audience response has been amazing, and it’s rewarding to see our music connecting with people from different places. We’re making the most of every moment, but we’re also excited to return to Brazil, reunite with our fans, and keep this intense phase of shows going. Of course, we can’t wait to come back to the U.S. in the future and take our music even further!

CONCERTY: Have you noticed any differences between the U.S. and Brazilian audiences?

Gabriel Vacari: There are differences in audiences even within Brazil, and we noticed that in the U.S. too. Overall, the response has been incredibly positive, with people singing along and showing a lot of love. In some cities, the crowd was a bit reserved at first, but by the second song, that changed, and they started reacting and engaging with us. We’re really happy with the energy and support we’ve received.

CONCERTY: During this tour, have you noticed your fanbase expanding beyond Brazil? How have these new international connections been?

Gabriel Vacari: Expanding our fanbase internationally is always a goal. With this tour, we’ve seen even more growth, especially in the U.S., where we now have our largest listener base. Playing in different cities and states has been a great opportunity, directly helping us reach and solidify our audience there.

DISMAY

CONCERTY: Your new album is set to release in April, and you’ve already dropped a single, "DISMAY", which sounds amazing! How was the creative process for this album? Do you feel like you've grown since your last release?

Felipe Hervoso: The creative process is still ongoing! We don’t have an exact release date yet since we’re independent again and considering label offers to decide the best path. As for growth, it’s not so much about maturing but about constantly exploring new sounds and influences. This keeps us inspired and motivated to evolve and bring something authentic to each new song.

CONCERTY: Last time we spoke, you mentioned your diverse inspirations. What were some of the biggest influences for this new album?

Felipi Grivol: We’re still focused on modern metalcore and deathcore, drawing from bands like Thrown, Darko US, Knocked Loose, Brand of Sacrifice, I Prevail, and Falling in Reverse. But this time, we’re also bringing in strong elements from Brazilian music. We explored influences like Cartola, Jorge Aragão, and Olodum, integrating textures and rhythms into our sound.

2025 & Wrap-up

CONCERTY: Once again, it’s an absolute pleasure to talk to you. We’re thrilled to see AXTY growing into one of Brazil’s biggest metalcore bands. Can you give us a glimpse of what to expect in 2025?

Jonathas Peschiera: We’re excited to see Brazilian metalcore gaining more recognition, and representing the scene is a responsibility we take seriously. In 2025, we want to expand even further, playing in more Brazilian states and possibly other countries. Plus, we have lots of new things coming, including the next releases from our new album, which will showcase a new phase of the band. It’s going to be an intense year, and we can’t wait to share it all with you!
