Billie Eilish Biography

Billie Eilish Pirate Baird O'Connell, better known by her stage name Billie Eilish, is an American singer and songwriter. She was born on December 18, 2001 in Los Angeles, California. She grew up in an artist family, with both of her parents being actor-musicians. The young Billie and her brother Finneas were homeschooled, giving plenty of opportunity to them to pursue their musical interests.

At age 8, Eilish joined the Los Angeles Children’s Chorus. As a teenager, she started writing songs with her beloved older brother which they uploaded to the website Soundcloud. As Eilish said later, they did it all just for fun. However, one of these fun little songs the siblings wrote for Finneas’ band blew up. In November 2015, they released the single “Ocean Eyes” with Billie Eilish on the vocals. It received several hundreds of thousands of plays in two weeks.

This all led to Eilish being signed with the major music label Interscope Records in August 2016. They re-released two of her independently produced songs, the aforementioned “Ocean Eyes” and “Six Feet Under”, with major music producers, such as Blackbear and Gazzo, working on the remixes of both.

Billie Eilish’s debut album came out in March 2019, with the title “When We All Fall Asleep, Where Do We Go?”. It sold over 1 million copies in the United States alone. The electro-pop track “Bad Guy” on the album became the best selling single in 2019.

The Californian music superstar has only released one full studio album since - it was “Happier Than Ever”, published in July 2021. The next new Billie Eilish album, however, has already been announced. “Roses” is set to hit the shelves in August 2023.

The biggest hits in the Billie Eilish setlist to date are “Bellyache” (2017), “lovely” co-performed with American singer Khalid (2018), the aforementioned “Bad Guy” (2019), and “when the party’s over” (also 2019).

At age 11, Eilish was diagnosed with Tourette’s Syndrome. It’s a neurodevelopmental disorder which causes the patient to have uncontrollable tics. In her case, they were motor tics. She can still be seen on tape making strange facial expressions and head movements out of nowhere. However, this doesn't affect her performances at a Billie Eilish concert.
