Tedeschi Trucks Band is an American blues and blues rock band. They were formed in 2010 in Jacksonville, Florida. The founding members were a husband and wife, guitarist Derek Trucks (born in 1979 in Jacksonville, Florida), and singer and guitarist Susan Tedeschi (1970, Boston, Massachusetts).
Two bands, "Derek Trucks" and "Susan Tedeschi's Soul Stew Revival", toured together in 2007. Three years later, in 2010, they merged together to form the Tedeschi Trucks Band. The new band boasted a massive, 11-musician line-up - that would be too long to list here. The very first Tedeschi Trucks Band concert took place at the Savannah Music Festival in April 2010.
Their debut album came out in June 2011, with the title “Revelator” and through the label Sony Music Masterworks, Sony Music’s classical music division. It became quite a hit, reaching #4 on Billboard’s Top Rock Albums chart, while also peaking at #12 on the famous overall Billboard 200 chart.
Since then, the Floridian blues musicians have put out 7 more studio albums (4 of which are 4 parts of an album all released in 2022), thus they have 8 in total. The best selling one among them is “Made Up Mind” from August 2013, which sold 113,000 copies in the US alone. Meanwhile, the latest new Tedeschi Trucks Band album came out in August 2022, with the title “I Am the Moon: IV. Farewell”.
The biggest hits in the Tedeschi Trucks Band setlist to date are “Angel from Montgomery” (a cover of the 1971 song by John Prine), “Midnight in Harlem” (2011), and “Anyhow” (2016). They currently have 12 musicians in their powerhouse ensemble. They are the two founders, lead vocalist and rhythm guitarist Susan Tedeschi, slide and lead guitarist Derek Trucks, drummer Tyler Greenwell, vocalist and acoustic guitarist Mike Mattison, vocalist Mark Rivers, saxophonist Kebbi Williams, trumpet player Ephraim Owens, trombone player Elizabeth Lea, bassist Brandon Boone, vocalist Alecia Chakour, keyboardist Gabe Dixon, and second drummer Isaac Eady.
