Lady Gaga Biography

Stefani Joanne Angelina Germanotta, better known by her stage name Lady Gaga, is an American singer, songwriter, and actress. She was born on March 29, 1986 in New York City, New York. She started learning the piano at age 4. She also started performing at open mic nights as a teenager, while spending much time taking acting lessons as well. In 2001, she had a brief role on an episode of the classic HBO crime drama series "The Sopranos".

She switched her focus from acting to music when she got into New York University’s music program at age 17. Gaga got miscellaneous gigs in the music industry, such as recording songs for an audiobook, or being part of a band called “SGBand”.

That is how she was discovered by a talent scout who recommended her to music producer Rob Fusari. Gaga and Fusari came up with her stage name “Lady Gaga” together, based on the Queen song “Radio Ga Ga”.

Her debut album “The Fame” came out in August 2008, published by Interscope Records. It was a huge hit, peaking at the #2 spot on the Billboard 200 list. The most popular tracks on its list were “Just Dance” and “Poker Face”. She also got to go on her first international Lady Gaga concert tour, called "The Fame Ball Tour".

Since then, Lady Gaga has released 4 more studio albums, thus she has 5 in total. The best selling among them remained her debut album, while the latest new Lady Gaga album came out in March 2020 with the title “Chromatica”. These are only her albums as a solo artist. In a departure from her usual style, she has also put out two collaborative albums with big band and jazz singer Tony Bennett.

Lady Gaga’s biggest hits to date are the aforementioned “Poker Face” (2008), “Bad Romance” (2009), and “Alejandro” (also 2009). She starred in the 2018 blockbuster movie “A Star is Born”, alongside actor Bradley Cooper. An original song from the soundtrack that she sang with Cooper, “Shallow”, also became a massive hit.

In addition to all that, she has a very close relationship with British music legend Elton John. In fact, she’s the godmother of both of his adopted sons. She is also the owner of a successful make-up brand, HAUS Laboratories. Check where the nearest Lady Gaga concert is playing on our page above.
