Rakim Athelaston Mayers, known professionally as A$AP Rocky, is an American rapper renowned for his contributions to the hip-hop genre. Born on October 3, 1988, and raised in Harlem, New York City, A$AP Rocky has become an important figure in the music industry. He started his music journey with a group called ASAP Mob, where he got his nickname. In 2011, his song "Peso" got out online, and soon after, it started playing on the radio.

Apart from his music career, Mayers is also a music video director and produces music for other artists under the name Lord Flacko.
Rocky's features with other prominent figures in the hip-hop and pop music landscape, such as Rihanna, Drake, and Tyler, the Creator, have demonstrated his adaptability and artistry. Rocky has also faced some controversies. He was first arrested for aggravated assault, then for simple assault, in Stockholm, Sweden, following a street altercation involving him, Mustafa Jafari, and three others from his group on June 30th.
In 2022, Rocky was taken into custody by LAPD officers when he landed at Los Angeles International Airport after a vacation with his partner, Rihanna. He was arrested in connection with a shooting incident that occurred in Hollywood on November 6, 2021, on suspicion of potential assault with a deadly weapon.
